Wooden Bat

Set in 1970’s Birmingham. Wooden Bat is a coming of age story depicting the rise to success and fame of black table tennis legend Desmond "scissor hand" Douglas, Britain’s most successful player to this day. Bound by the game, both coach Kevin "whizkid" Woodford, a self assured 'has been' and the understated player "scissorhand" Desmond, make table tennis history. For Kevin the hardest thing to do is to let go of his dream while Desmond must find the courage to have one. This is a story aimed at all generations, classes and cultures, whether they have a love for table tennis or just for a good story.
